Polokwane, South Africa — A failed miracle attempt by a South African pastor led to the death of a young lady. Ghanastar.com reports that the pastor, in the course of performing a miracle, directed ushers to lay a heavy stage speaker on the girl. But due to the weight of the speaker, the girl ended up with internal injuries, which caused her death.
Eyewitnesses reported that Pastor Lethebo Rabalango, prior to performing the ‘miracle’, had assured the girl that she would not feel any pain. As a part of worship in his church at Polokwane, where he preached about the demonstration of power, he invited a girl to be a part of the miracle that he would perform. Rabalango emphasized that if Jesus walked on water, he too could perform a similar miracle with the power of faith.
The pastor beckoned the girl from the praise team to be a part of his experiment. He asked her to lie down, and ordered the ushers to place a large stage speaker on her stomach, stating that the weight would not cause her any pain. He then proceeded to climb on top of the speaker, adding to the burgeoning weight. The pressure led to the girl getting suffocated, until she passed out.
The ordeal continued for close to 5 minutes, after which the pastor asked the speaker to be lifted. The girl, being unconscious, couldn’t get up. Several church elders came up to administer first aid to the woman until she was revived. She complained of pain from a broken rib and was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Reports state that Congregates of the Mount Zion General Assembly went home with heads down on the ill-fated Sunday, after the failed demonstration went awry. The pastor, however, refused to accept his mistake, and put the blame squarely on the girl. In his defense, he added that the girl lacked faith, due to which she couldn’t carry out a simple task.
